2016 Christmas Stamps Around The Globe
Let's get into the Christmas spirit with the beautiful collection of 2016's Christmas stamps. On December 25th many cultures around the world celebrate the religious holiday of Christmas. It is an annual festivity recognizing the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas time is when loved ones gather together to reflect on all of the great things that have happened to them throughout the year. It is also a time of gift giving, displaying seasonal decorations which include Christmas lights, garlands, trees, wreaths, holly, mistletoe, and nativity scenes.
Canada's 2016 decorative Christmas Stamps consist of three traditional images beautifully illustrated by Rolf Harder. One stamp displays Santa Claus, a Christmas tree, and a olive branch carrying dove within an enchanted forest. Another stamp depicts Mary the Virgin with child. The painting it mocks was painted in the 1460s by a famous painter known as the Master of the Nativity Castello.
In the USA, USPS has released a Nativity Forever Stamp which honors one of the most traditional images known World wide, the biblical Nativity Scene otherwise known as the birth of Christ Jesus. The stamp itself depicts baby Jesus, kneeling Mary, and strong Joseph silhouetted against a dawning sky. Australia celebrates Christmas Island delivering a very unique season's greeting of their own. This stamp displays Santa flying into Christmas Island to deliver presents to all of the good boys and girls. Santa is definitely feeling the tropical heat through the stamps illustration of palm trees, sunny weather, turtles, cars, and birdies.

The second a trumpeting angel spreading the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ. The third depicts the three wise men on there way to investigate this rumored birth. All three of these religious stamps have been created with the utilization of the intricate art of hand paper cutting.
The USA has also released a 2016 Christmas stamp that portrays in great detail the Madonna and Child. This 15th century, tempera on panel portrait, displays a white veil over Madonna's head that is beautifully completed with a red garment trimmed with gold. The Virgin Mary is Haloed as she gazes down onto her haloed baby Jesus. Behind them is a background of gorgeous roses and shrubbery. This stamp is mocked after a 1470s painting from the Widener Collection placed at the National Art Gallery in Washington, D.C.
